Il cantiere dell’Arcivescovo. Esperienze milanesi nelle riviste degli anni cinquanta e sessanta.

L’autrice, partendo dallo spoglio di cinque riviste a carattere specialistico analizzate nel corso di venticinque anni (1945-1970), intende mettere in evidenza taglio e ragioni dell’interesse per le nuove chiese parrocchiali, numerose in quegli anni nella diocesi ambrosiana. Indaga allo scopo, per tutto il periodo, Domus e Arte cristiana; per archi temporali più limitati Fede e Arte, Chiesa e Quartiere e Nuove chiese. L’indagine le consente di raccogliere e confrontare informazioni descrittive e annotazioni critiche per circa ottanta casi. Ne trae un quadro documentario molto ricco, con aperture sulla costruzione della città moderna e sulla vitalità pastorale, sociale, architettonica di Milano. In esso emerge soprattutto il periodo dell’episcopato del cardinale Montini. Sonda infine le motivazioni della predilezione e dei modi di illustrazione delle chiese nelle varie riviste individuando per spunti, meritevoli di ulteriori approfondimenti, sia ragioni editoriali sia opzioni strettamente connessi al momento storico.

Milanese experiences in the magazines of the fifties and sixties

The author, starting from the examination of five specialist magazines analyzed over the course of twenty-five years (1945-1970), intends to highlight the nature and reasons for the interest in the new parish churches, numerous in those years in the Ambrosian diocese. To this end, she investigates “Domus” and “Arte cristiana” throughout the period; for more limited time periods “Fede e Arte”, “Chiesa e Quartiere” and “Nuove chiese”. The investigation allows her to collect and compare descriptive information and critical notes for approximately eighty cases. You draw a very rich documentary picture from it, with insights into the construction of the modern city and the pastoral, social and architectural vitality of Milan. In it, the period of Cardinal Montini’s episcopate emerges above all. Finally, she probes the reasons for the predilection and ways of illustrating the churches in the various magazines, identifying for ideas, worthy of further investigation, both editorial reasons and options strictly connected to the historical moment.
